Private Yacht Rentals

Private Yacht Rentals

Chartering through private yacht rentals can be much cheaper then buying a yacht. One can do one of several types of charter, from bareboat to crewed charter, although a private rental may well be more suited to the advanced yachter with experience as unless the owner of the yacht is acting as the skipper, the renter would either have to do it or hire one independently. Bareboating might require you to present your skills to the ship owner but can be the most exciting vacation.

Seeking private yacht rentals is not difficult. There are a number of websites that will help you locate people with yachts for charter at various locations around the world. Most charters are done for vacations. A small boat can be rented for a few thousand dollars a week, depending on size and if you need a skipper or not. No matter what your fancy, from bay sailing to ocean travel, you can likely find a yacht that meets your needs.

When looking at private yacht rentals one should take into consideration their own skill level. If you have experience then a bareboat charter might be perfect for you. By doing this, the most skilled person in the passenger roster becomes the skipper for the duration of the charter. One can then rent the boat for a specific short time frame, supplying provisions, insurance, and other legal requirements for the trip. Keep in mind that a bareboat charter does not come with any technical maintenance. The person taking the charter becomes a short term owner, paying for all additional operating costs, including fuel, crew if needed, port fees, and any other legal requirements.

On the up side, doing a bareboat private yacht rental can allow you freedom to explore places within a time frame that taking a cruise ship would not allow. Even if you do end up hiring a crew, this alone can be a compelling reason for this type of charter. Of course if the ship owner stays on as a captain then you have a different form of charter called a time ore voyage charter. While you would still retain freedom to go to different and unique ports, the ultimate decision making would fall back to the actual owner.

Should one enjoy yachting, there is a form of bareboat charter that can last for a long term, called a demise charter. This type of private yacht rental can lead to ownership over time of the renter, or simply act as a long term lease. This is not as common as short term rentals however. If you need help locating private yacht rentals your best bet would be to seek out a charter broker. They can act as a middle man for you, locating and gaining bids on various yachts from the owners to find you the best value at the location you want to yacht. Both boating and outdoor adventure style vacations make it very easy to find bareboat chartering just about everywhere.

Points to Think About for a Yacht Party Rental

Points to Think About for a Yacht Party Rental

Life on a luxury yacht is the good life that most people dream of but only a few can actually enjoy. And then came along the yacht party rental industry that bridged the gap between the haves and the have-nots if only for a few hours, days and weeks. An increasing number of the Joneses have availed of these yacht rentals to be in the league of the Trumps, Gates and Abramovichs of the world, so to speak.

Before you go traipsing into the office of a yacht rental company or logging into its official website, it pays to know certain things about their rentals. At the very least, you can choose the yacht for the party with an informed mind, which definitely beats being a total ignoramus in the matter.

Cost of the Rental

Your first consideration in looking for the right yacht party rental is arguably its cost especially when you are operating within a set budget. For example, if you are planning a wedding reception on a rented yacht, it is not only the rental cost that must be considered. You must also factor in the costs for the food, the décor and the staff.

Most companies offer packages for special events with specific rates. Your choice will then be made easier although you can always ask for personalized touches at additional cost.

Keep in mind, too, that yacht rental can either be bareboat or bareboat with skipper or crewed yacht. Bareboat is obviously the cheapest option while crewed yacht is the most expensive, all other things like destination, number of people and season being equal.

Planned Itinerary

The next consideration in yacht party rental is the planned itinerary. The general rule is that the farther away the planned destinations are from the boat’s home port, the more expensive the rate will be. This also applies to the number of days that the yacht will be used, the number of crew on the ship and the number of amenities present in the boat.

Many luxury yachts for rent have localized destinations although many other companies also offer overseas voyages. If possible, you must present a planned itinerary for the yacht and then be ready to compromise with the company and the captain, if he is going with the group, about the destinations.

You may want to sail the entire Caribbean region but that may not be possible due to reasons like weather patterns, piracy on the highs seas and available budget, among other factors. Indeed, a luxury yacht party rental may be at your disposal but you must also be flexible to account for the uncontrollable factors that affect travel on the seas.

When you are negotiating the terms of the boat charter, you must be ready with a list of your needs, preferences and special requirements. This way, the company and the crew will have clear ideas of what are expected of them while you will know about the things that you can expect from these professionals. We cannot overemphasize the fact that, like any other contract, a yacht party rental demands good faith from both parties to ensure smooth sailing, literally and figuratively.

Motor Yacht Rental for Fun in the Sun

Motor Yacht Rental for Fun in the Sun

One can charter either a sailing yacht or a motor yacht. What makes motor yacht rental different, you might wonder. For one, renting a boat with a motor means you don’t have to know how to sail. Indeed while you might need to know how to navigate on the open seas, a motor yacht frees you from being at the mercy of the wind. When trying to chose what type of rental to look at consider where you want to go and how large a group you have with you. Each type of charter caters to a different group size and trip length.

When looking for a motor yacht rental keep in mind the types of yachts out there and the length of the trip you want to make. For short day trips a day cruiser yacht for 2-3 people is a fine choice. These lack a cabin and have little by way of extras, seeing as they are meant for just a couple of hours use at a time. The next step up is the weekender yacht, which can house 2 or 3 people for several days. If you wish to make a long trip but will be in sight of the shore most all of the way, planning on stopping every couple of days this can be a great choice. Weekenders have some basic necessities but are not meant for extremely long trips or ocean travel.

Motor yacht rental also includes larger vessels, like the cruising yacht, which can house six to 30 people, depending on size, for extended amounts of time. These are fully seaworthy ships. You might wish to consider doing a crewed charter to make sure that you have all situations covered on one of these ships. Another option is the sport fishing yacht which is geared for fishing at sea. Or for the really luxurious experience you can look into a luxury yacht, complete with all the amenities of a resort hotel

Keep in mind that a motor yacht rental may be more expensive to cover the cost of disel fuel for the internal combustion engines. You will find that there are a wide range of choices in hull design, ranging from the standard monohull style that is traditional to more recent multihulls that allow larger ships navigate shallower waters.

One can chose from bareboat rentals, usually favored for the smaller boats, like the day cruiser and the weekender or opt for a skippered motor yacht rental for those larger ships and longer trips. A crewed charter is far better when considering the more expensive larger yachts because it allows everyone on the trip to relax instead of one individual being responsible for safety the entire time when they should be on vacation. You can save some money selecting an un-inspected passenger charter over the inspected one if your group is small. Un-inspected motor yacht rental only works for groups of six or less. Larger groups require an inspected charter and a larger yacht.

Luxury Yacht Rentals

The only way to do luxury yacht rentals is to do a crewed charter. There is no way to do a bareboat charter on a luxury yacht. They are usually crewed by professional staff even when owned privately. This is the only viable option when renting a luxury yacht. All luxury yacht charters are inspected charters. Luxury yachts carry from 10 to 34 passengers or more depending on the type of ship chartered. Most luxury yachts focus on pampering the guests so will have fewer passengers then a typical cruise ship of the same size.

Luxury yacht rentals are found in various ports around the world. 1500 large luxury yachts can be charted in the winter in the Mediterranean sea alone. The cost to charter one of these craft can range up to several million dollars a week. The summer months find many of the same ships in the Caribbean, also for rent. Some companies actually haul the yachts on large specially outfitted ships for this purpose. This has led to a booming private charter business for luxury yachts in the Caribbean.

These ocean going yachts can then be booked through luxury yacht rentals for short cruises, depending on the season and location, or longer ones to exotic ports that standard cruises do not go to. Popular ports of call in the winter are southern Spanish towns, the French and Italian Rivieras, spots like Cannes and Monte Carlo. One can also visit the Caribbean port of Antigua and see their world famous Charter Show. Longer rentals can let you visit remote areas that standard cruise ships cannot or will not reach for one reason or another.

Luxury yacht rentals can be made both through companies that only have luxury yachts for charter and through private individuals who may allow chartering of their boats and crew while they are not using them. This helps mitigate the running cost of a luxury yacht by allowing others to rent the boat and crew for short periods of time while keeping the crew busy and skilled year round. This also allows the moderately wealthy to enjoy a yachting experience that is beyond their normal means because they only need to pay for expenses for the yacht while they are using it. This means the renter has the advantage of choice over yacht type, location of ports and designations, and crew.

When seeking a charter for luxury yacht rentals one should keep in mind that a larger boat will require a bigger crew. Most smaller 10 to 12 passenger ships will take a crew of eight to ten. The larger ships that can house 30 or so passengers take 70 to 80 crew and service staff. These ships offer such varied services as spas, masseuses, beauty care, chefs, musicians or DJ, scuba experts, and more. Renting a new ship will cost you considerably more then an older one, but also provide you with luxuries like flat screen televisions, satellite communications, off ship transportation, and more.

Luxury Sailing Yachts

Luxury Sailing Yachts

Yacht is a term used to refer to boats which are used for recreational purposes it project management. This word can be used to define two types of boats, either motor boat or sailing boat. Sailing boats or sailing yachts are used more exclusively for recreation unlike the motor operated boats. There are five types of sailing yachts, namely the Day sailing yachts, weekender yachts, cruising yachts, racing yachts and luxury sailing yachts. Sailing yachts length vary with a range that starts at 6 meters to bigger crafts at around 30 meters in LOA or Length Over All. The existence of these bigger yachts make it difficult to establish the difference between a yacht and a ship. Private yachts are usually only around 7 meters to 14 meters in LOA.

Luxury sailing yachts were once very simple sailing vessels, very different from the boat images that come into our mind whenever we hear luxury sailing yachts. These sailing yachts are usually 25 meters LOA or longer, and have since transformed from the basic sailing boat they were to the luxurious boats with all the perks that we know today. These sailing yachts have become popular among the people who love to sail for recreational purposes, and are considered a romantic date trip for couples. Yachts have become automated and sophisticated, and the materials used for the luxury sailing yachts now are unlike what people used to build them with back then. With the introduction of fiberglass, aluminum, steel, carbon fiber and ferrocement, yacht building has changed and nowadays only seldom uses pure wood as building material.

Sailing yachts are very economical and environment friendly compared to yachts which are powered by motor and gas, or any other means of propulsion for that matter. There are some yachts that are considered hybrid, because they can use either sail or propulsion, or even both. Even though a luxury sailing yacht is not hybrid, it still contains a low-power engine that can be used when the sea is too calm and there is not much wind available, or when having difficulty with anchorages. Their range of motors are between around 3.5 kilowatts or 5 horsepower, and 30 kilowatts or 40 horsepower. Some of the larger sailing boats have diesel engines to be used for the same purposes, with more powerful engines to support the size, which range from 20 to 101 horsepower.

Nowadays, luxury sailing yachts contain modern conveniences from necessities like light, to luxurious conveniences like air conditioning in the cabin, hot water, pressurized water systems, refrigerators, to even television. Not only that, but the sails of these yachts are also already highly automated, and one would only have to program the computer to control electric winches which in turn control the sails. In addition to that, sailing yachts nowadays have very modern sail plans and one of the most used is the Bermuda rig, which is a configuration of rigging so that the the yacht is able to sail towards the wind. Due to the number of appliances available in the modern sailing yacht, much electric power is needed for it to remain in its optimum condition when sailing. For use in long range trips, sailing yachts today even have wind, solar or water generators to keep the electricity going.

How Yacht Brokers Help from Choosing to Selling Your Boat

Yachts represent a substantial investment in the same manner as the mansions on land. If you want real estate brokers to handle the purchase and sale of your land-based property, then you should also want yacht brokers to do the same for your sea-based assets. You will enjoy numerous benefits from hiring the most competent yacht broker in town whether you are choosing, buying or selling a luxury boat.

Choosing the Yacht

Let’s face it. If you are new to buying these luxury vessels, the complexity of the pertinent laws, requirements and technicalities can be intimidating so much so that backing out of the purchase is a possibility. Well, with a yacht broker, you have the benefit of a professional’s guiding hand.

Your yacht broker can assist in hammering out your needs and preferences in a yacht in terms that any seller can understand. You will be provided with information about the things that must be factored in from technical specifications to design considerations.

Plus, yacht brokers have easy access to an extensive database of both listed and unlisted boats for sale. You can then spend less time, effort and money on searching for the boat of your dreams.

Buying the Yacht

When you have identified the yacht that you intend to purchase, the hard parts come in. For one thing, you must negotiate for a better price with the seller for obvious reasons. But if you lack the time, the skills and the resources to do so, your yacht broker can do the negotiation part on your behalf. Keep in mind that negotiations also include looking for the financing entity, the terms of finance contract and the manner by which payments must be made to both seller and bank.

Yacht brokers also perform the invaluable service of looking for surveyors, attorneys and other professionals involved before, during and after the purchase of the vessel. We did warn that the purchase of these luxury boats was complicated in itself.

Selling the Yacht

Let’s assume that you are now selling the yacht. In this case, you will still require the services of a yacht broker perhaps the one hired to complete the purchase. Numerous issues, concerns and problems can and will arise between the time when the sale is advertised to the time when the sale is completed. The yacht broker can find the proper solutions for these problems, thus, lessening your burden.

For example, when you want to advertise the sale, the extensive network of yacht brokers will go into action to provide maximum exposure. Your broker can tap into this wide network, which means faster selling time and faster profit inflow.

Even when you are sailing your yacht, a broker’s services will come in handy. You have assurance that the title is clean, the travel papers are legal and all the other aspects necessary for a safe journey including a competent crew can be handled or assisted by the broker.

So, before you even consider the purchase of the luxury yachts docked in the nearby harbor, you must choose from a list of professional yacht brokers to facilitate the purchase. Choosing which one is the best is another matter altogether.
